Counting our Blessings...

Photo by Francine Zaslow. Produced and styled by Matthew Mead

I've spent some time counting my blessings. Could what Jenny and I have been through this past year been nothing but a "tempest in a teapot?" Was I so positively blinded by the scarcity of work and the financial constraints that I couldn't see the "forest through the trees?"  Reaching out and sharing has led to such reaffirming response: new contacts, new friends and relationships. A rich and fulfilling connection to a larger community of talented creative types, who themselves have so many ideas and much advice to offer. We are very close to a new way of getting our ideas out to our readers and it wouldn't be a real Thanksgiving without counting amongst my blessings the support of all my friends both old and new.

Four things you might not know about my Thanksgiving:

We typically celebrate on Friday.  With a great deal of extended family, it just makes sense to attend all the requested events and have a smaller quiet gathering while everyone else is out shopping.

Parker house rolls are a tradition at our table, and while I don't always make them myself, they are always present and accounted for.

My mother makes the most delicious cranberry apple walnut pie, which has become the most favorite dessert of our event.

This year we start a new tradition of taking our grown children out after dinner to cut a tree. One must make new traditions in life as times and geographic locations change.

  1. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

  2. Happy Thanksgiving Matthew & Jenny. xo

  3. Happy Thanksgiving. I hope the coming year is kind to you.

  4. Enjoyed reading your blog this morning before I jump into full kitchen and family mode. I too will be feeling thankful and grateful this year.

  5. Happy Thanksgiving - I'm glad that I've had the chance to become a new friend - a blessing indeed.

  6. Beautiful. Hope that you had a great thanksgiving!!!!

We love to hear from our readers and friends! Thank you for taking the time to talk to us.
