You can't do a magazine about backyard living without spending lots of time outside. And I did just that this past summer to create my new book. My shoots were scheduled for peak season. One shoot took me to Hull, Massachusetts - about two hours south of me and east of Boston. There, in mid-June, I found a seaside home with the most beautiful rose garden: climbing varieties, blooms growing along a fence, a fountain surrounded by billowing bushes in shades of peach, pink and apricot. I spent a few splendid hours there enjoying the fragrances, cutting blooms for arrangements, and making rosewater. Learn more about this spectacular garden in my new book Backyard Style.
