2012 in Review...

I grew this year: like the Grinch, my heart grew.  I came to realize mortality and that each day checked off the calendar was literally one less. There must be a time in life when it happens to everyone... when reality sets in and you come to grips with the uncertainty of minute to
minute. Perhaps I am a late bloomer; but the growing has been good.  I am also mature enough to counteract it. To realize that, I must live in the present moment, grasp and share and love, and forgive in order to make the most of every single second.  I realized that I have to give back, and while I guess I have always thought I was a "giving" person, I wasn't really out doing anything about it.  I changed that this year, and I am happy to say it brought me great joy and peace of mind.   For me it was the "road less traveled," and my detour has made
all the difference.

I am so very grateful to continue to have so many wonderful ways to share my work:

My Associated Press work continued, with beautiful images of food and delicious recipes shared all around the world.

As I prepared this post, I tried to select some images for a "year in review."  It is so hard to select just a few things that truly represent the things I have experienced, been challenged by, and found great joy in.  Like most everyone I know, it is a constantly changing landscape mounded with economic peaks and valleys.  I have much reward from my work, so it is that happiness that carries me.  And the great support from readers and friends and family truly make it all worth it.

My jelly jars are a dream come true: something I created from my personal collection of vintage pieces and now available in my Etsy shop to share. I also created a three-tiered stand which is just perfect for display collections, flowers, or food.

We produced and published three issues of my own branded magazine this
And I hope to release four issues in 2013!
I continue to have so many opportunities to be creative for many
clients, but also my own website.  I love shooting vintage pieces,
flowers, seasonal decorations, and just fun ideas -- including items
like making a wall charm display or capturing the beauty of a peony.

And so my dreams for 2013 are simple: to keep the love of my family (wife, kids, dog and parents) and friends close to my heart.  I plan to continue to create and inspire and be inspired, and find new ways to help and support others in any way that I can. Because that kind of giving is rewarding and lasting and is something I can do.  I wish you all, my friends, family, team, and contributors a very bright and spectacular new year.
Happy New Year, everyone, and many blessings to you and yours!
