An "Estate-ly" Christmas...and our giveaway winners!
Several winters ago, I photographed the nearby historic Kimball-Jenkins estate here in Concord, NH. The estate is an esteemed fixture in our town and was the perfect setting for a holiday shoot. Its carriage house (below) exemplifies the traditional sophistication that the estate is known for:
Its exquisite doors are bedecked in a gorgeous wreath that I created using flowers and greenery. I also wrapped some simple birch logs with wide ribbon and tucked in sprigs of cedar, hypericum berries, and cinnamon sticks:
We packed up a wicker picnic basket with some holiday baked goods, including creamy-filled horns, a coffee cake drizzled in white icing, and set up a hot cocoa station alongside them. On this brisk cold day, the warm beverage helped warm our cold fingers.
Below, we hung old skates -- that we refreshed with a coat of beige paint -- from an intricate doorknob and filled them with holiday greens, including seeded eucalyptus, which smells absolutely wonderful. In the end, we loved how a traditional holiday color palette of red and green was the perfect match for this charming, romantic setting.
And now for our giveaway winners!
