Happy Independence Day!

As the mercury rises and the air conditioners hum and drip in the hot sun, the seasons for us are changing. I have to remind myself to savor summer, enjoy the grill, and my feet in the sand, because we have just wrapped our HALLOWEEN book and are almost complete with HOLIDAY,
which is a 256 page book celebrating my 20 years in styling. While my evenings are spent enjoying the long hours of daylight, my days are filled with pumpkins, cookie recipes, ornaments and DIY ideas to make the upcoming holiday season filled with fun things to do. As always, we try to really mix it up and this year is no exception. For Halloween we've focused on new themes like spooky pirates and the circus.  For HOLIDAY, there will be fresh ideas for gathering friends and family, decorating, and creating your very own, very personalized Christmas season.  As we continue to ready holiday preparations for all of us, please enjoy Independence Day and try one of our simple ideas to make the day even more memorable:

Red candy coating makes edible cups for pineapple ice cream.  Wrap pre-chilled mini drinks in colorful scrapbook paper.  Paper boxes filled with cherries are great favors for guests.  Recycle bottle caps with names attached denote each guests drinks.  Stencil chocolate cookies using a paper template and confectionery sugar.

Embellish a paper lantern with fun red trim from the sewing store.
Change up your burger... skip the bun and embellish with the savory ingredients of a Greek salad.

Enjoy this glorious holiday!

  1. I'm so excited about the "circus" theme since I am a clown. I also love little kids as pirates. Not the real and bad kind but little ones look so cute. We took a pirate cruise in Hilton Head last year. They had little vests for the kids and we bought hats, bandanna's and eye patches. It was so cute. Can't wait for the new book.
