Life is an adventure.
I've learned that lesson well in my 42 years (mostly in the last five) and no matter how amazing your talents or creativity, it is rare that success finds you standing on your hometown street corner. It is really the difference between dipping your toe into the lake for the first swim of the season or barreling toward the water to take what might be a body jarring icy plunge. I've opted for the dead run, the unknown, the shoot first-ask questions later. The "take the bull by the horns, leap of faith, damned if you don't" approach to my work and I can say letting go, losing the doubt, and letting the anxiety evaporate is serving me well. I have found some wisdom in my years, engaging the unknown and "letting the adventure begin."
It is in that spirit that I announce an addition to my current endeavors: I am super excited to be the new food photographer for the Associated Press. It is a real honor to work with AP food editor and author J.M. Hirsch and his talented team of chefs to create beautiful and inspiring recipe and menu images that appear in thousand of news papers and online services around the world on a daily basis. Fun, fresh, seasonal food ideas that are not only tried and true, but are delicious, easy, and inspiring. I am thrilled to be part of such a tradition and hope that you look for these ideas everyday and adapt them to your daily repertoire and special occasions. Check out some of our collaborations by googling Matthew Mead AP Food and you will discover dozens of food ideas and images which have already hit the wire service.
Next week will find me in New York City, attending meetings to solidify some more big news as we explore new pathways to reach you all with inspiring ideas. Our SUMMER with Matthew Mead issue is almost complete... we are dotting "I's" and crossing "T's" as we speak and are happily excited about how inspiring and colorful it has turned out. And you will be thrilled to meet our new contributors and designers that have added so much to the content.
Please comment and tell us about your new adventures this spring season... we are a very diverse creative community and your story might just be a feature in our next seasonal magazine!
Thanks to each of you for your support.
Summer with Matthew Mead is sold only via this website.
