In Living Color...

I saw my future today and it is COLORFUL.

(The first page i saw on the pressman's desk when I stopped in at the printer... they added some ink to super-charge the colors and showed me the results right then and there!)

It has been a week of fits and starts: calls and runs to and from the printer... just like a baby's impending arrival, it has been a near go and then more waiting. Frustrating, exhilarating, happiness, joy and ultimately TRIUMPH!

Yesterday at 4:07 pm, I got to peek inside the printing shop to see the first pages of my magazine coming off a giant press. Lots of noise, the smell of ink, gray metal casings holding whirring turbines pumping out HOLIDAY with Matthew Mead. Saturated colors under bright lights to view it all... one step closer to a life-long dream and now my own vehicle to share it.

I am 42 years old and introspective. I think often - daily - about creating something lasting, inspiring, honest and compelling (don't I sound like Halle Berry accepting her Oscar?). But truly, I always have wanted to have my own magazine. And now here it is - filtered only by me and my inner circle of team members and dear friends. A cooperative effort for sure, but one that I haven't had to fight, defend or walk away from because of my convictions. It is pure me...unedited and delivered in a new way - my way. And while I have had the ability to make it happen for many years, it is only when I truly realized that truth that I actually could move ahead to do it.

If today was the birth of HOLIDAY, then the coming days will see accelerated growth as the pages are folded, bound, covered, and labeled. And after all that, I will gently nudge this fledgling dream from its nest to readers from all around the world. The true test will be how it resonates with you, the reader, and how we continue to forge this relationship in the months and years to come.

Indeed, I hope you can recognize it as a common dream - a way to unite like-minded people who long to learn, grow, and savor life and all the natural beauty it bears.

For this is what I believe the experience is all about.

I am proud to be a step closer to providing you with this magazine that has truly been a labor of love for all involved.

I look tired for sure as I hold the first printed page from HOLIDAY. Never before in my experience in this industry have I been on press as my material is created. It was an awe-inspiring moment for me.

Peer inside the printer (and see the castle that Mary Engelbreit designed for this issue!) as it is printed on 70lb. matte finish paper stock... so very nice!

Holiday with Matthew Mead is sold only via this website.
Have you ordered your copy yet?

    Sarah & Lyndsay

  3. I can't wait to see it in my mailbox!

  4. This is just so awesome for you ~
My husband used to create maps---the old way with off-set printing and sheets of film for each color---before the age of computers {we're 55}...
He said it was exhilarating to see the ink applied one color at a time to finally achieve the goal of a beautiful colorful map.

Of course, the age of computer technology changed all of that and back to school he went...

It must feel GREAT to be this close to a final printing.

Off I go to order one more copy for my sister ♥
