  9. The strangest gift I ever received was a sign that said "I am Canadian". I am (I live in America) but not sure I want my decor to state that.

  10. One year, my not-so-great Father gave us gifts. Our parents are divorced and we rarely heard from my Dad...let alone, got presents. We were all excited to get gifts from him. I opened first and then my sisters. We each got a solid color t-shirt with our names ironed on in fuzzy black lettering. I was 18 and not excited about this shirt. Next my only brother opened his present. An apron, ironed on it was the name 'Scott'. My brother is Bob. Needless to say, we were all not loving our gifts...but especially Bob.

  11. The best Christmas gift I've received was a group of hardcover books (including "Little Women", one of my all time favorites). The package was wrapped in paper completely different than any other gifts under the tree. I was 9 years old, and the different paper wrapping the book I had so wanted made me believe in Santa again. :)

  12. My most memorable and strange gift was a pair of new steel toed work boots from my oldest brother Barry when I was 14 yrs old. When I opened it I tried to hide my disgust and tears, but then realized it was a joke and he had tucked inside one of the boots $100.00 to buy a pair of cowboy boots I had been begging my parents for.It was big brothers first "real" job and he treated all of his 4 siblings with amazing and generous gifts. He taught us to love and to give to each other with his special brand of humour.

Thanks for the chance to win the nutcracker. I love nutcrackers and this one would fit right in with my collection!
I also posted on my blog about the Holiday book.

  24. The year I got married my Dad came up to my husband's stag in August. On the way he stopped and bought a gift for me...he gave it to me and said, "Don't open it till Christmas". Well, my Dad died in early December that year and when I opened his gift, it was an Angel for our Christmas tree. Every year I bring out his angel on the 4th of December.

  25. The best gift I have ever gotten is from my mom. It was just her and I and she couldn't afford to guy presents. She was upset at work and one of her friends asked what was wrong. She explained everything and the next week she brought her a beautiful clown that she had made with pink velvet. She gave it to my mom to give to me for Christmas. My mom wrapped it up and put it under the tree. Christmas morning I opened it and couldn't believe how beautiful it was. My mom explained how special it was and that it was homemade and that clown sat on a shelf in my room for years. Priceless!

  29. I remember very clearly being 6 months pregnant with our 2nd child in Dec. 1996 when I opened a gift that I thought was incredibly weird & insulting from my husband. It was a plastic caddy filled with cleaning items and dust rags, etc. I was very confused and thought it very odd, but then read the accompanying note that said he had hired a cleaning lady to come in for the next 6 months to help me as I entered the final trimester and also to enable me to enjoy more time with our newborn and young son! THAT was THE-BEST-GIFT-EVER, and that was nearly 14 years ago!!!

  30. The best Christmas gift I have ever received was my youngest child. She was born on Christmas Eve and her middle name is "Noelle". Waking up on Christmas morning to a sweet bundle of joy is the "best gift" ever. I would love the nutcracker and he would join a collection of about 75 nutcrackers. Every year we collect a new one.

  31. Hate to put this out there, but the strangest xmas gift I ever received was a USED dusty snowglobe wrapped in my own Christmas paper-a gift from my now mother in law...she didn't even bother to use new tape! This was before re-gifting was popular :) so I was slightly offended since she could afford to buy a gift...
