Opportunity Knocks...(first in a series of How I Met Martha)

I have spent the last eighteen years of my life looking for it, acting on it and using it as a building block in my career. And I think it is one of the hallmarks or what we are offering at HOLIDAY with Matthew Mead. I have discovered that self-publishing really allows me to open the doors for many of YOU out there, and it's exactly what you need to set your career in a new trajectory...

And it happened for me when I started out in this career. I wrote letters and sent pictures to authors I admired. It lead to meetings with herb gardening expert Emelie Tolley; American Country decorating icon, Mary Emmerling; stylist and designer,Tricia Foley and even Martha Stewart.

"I was twenty three or twenty four years old. I'd faxed Martha (Stewart) at her office letting her know that I would be in East Hampton attending a book party celebrating Mary Emmerling's "cottage book," and I would love the opportunity to meet her and show her my portfolio. To my surprise, I  was invited to the house on Lily Pond Lane. Of course it was an honor, and I was filled with excitement for all the possibilities to come..."

What was the experience (and Martha) like?
Well, come back for the rest, and I'll fill you in!

As for you, there is going to be lots to be involved in.... I PROMISE! So please join our team by spreading the word and letting your friends and fellow artisans know that Matthew Mead is interested in using HOLIDAY to edge everyone closer to success. And tune in everyday as we share new ways for you to contribute and the amazing things that you can win along the way. And (it's very possible), I may even be knocking on your door!

(Keep coming back for more details!!)

  1. Matthew, I can't wait to hear the rest of the Martha story. Who would have ever thought she'd just go and invite you over. I'll be coming by frequently to see what you have up your sleeve. Loved the Flea Market Style magazine.

  2. How lovely, thank you!

    Have a beautiful week,

    : )

  3. Wow.. I can't believe the "Martha Meeting", amazing. I think it's terrific that you are using Holiday as a way to help further other talented people. It's also exciting to watch this grow from the very beginnings.
    Thanks to you all.

  4. On the edge of my seat, here! There's really something to be said for just going out on a limb and ASKING, sometimes. Bravo!

  5. Such an inspiration, really. I watch American Pickers and think...hey, they are BOLD, they go for it and have amazing stories to show for it. Sounds like you've done the same, so maybe that's what I'm lacking. The BOLDness. The inability to hesitate based on my fear. I like it. THANK you for the little push!! :)

  6. You can come knock on my door anyday!

  7. Looking forward to reading the rest of the story!!!

  8. I can't wait to hear the rest of the story. How exciting!!! Isn't that gate so pretty? Love & blessings from NC!

  9. Sometimes it's hard to step out and take a risk, but I guess if you don't try, you have already failed! Looking forward to the rest of the story!

  10. I'm in Kansas. Come knock! :) Or ring the doorbell. Or just walk right in.

    Loving the blog...

  11. I'm looking forward to the rest of the story!
